The construction work for the much hyped Bikram Chowk – Gandhi Nagar flyover project is likely to get delayed further due to damage to 4th bridge. This was informed by Chief Executive Officer J&K ERA to Divisional Commissioner Jammu while he was inspected the progresses of work of flyover.
He was told that physical progress on the work is about 70 percent and the work, which was likely to be completed by December 2016, may get delayed by
1 to 2 months because of damage to 4th bridge. With the closures of 4th bridge, shifting of Precast Girders from the casting yard at Bhagwati Nagar had got effected, as the vehicles carrying these Girders, were being routed through 4th bridge only.
“At some spots, shifting HT and LT lines are required to be shifted and PDD has already started the shifting work. Divisional Commissioner instructed ERA to maintain the roads along the project corridor so that commuters are not put to any inconvenience. Various options to accelerate the progress of projects and cover up the time lapse because of closing of bridge were also discussed, they added
He was informed. ” The estimate cost of project is Rs 71 crores and till date expenditure of 43.37 crores has already been incurred.
The total length of flyover is 1.3 kms and will provide a 2 lane corridor each for both to and fro traffic.
