Farooq’s pledge to Hurriyat proves NC’s role in Kashmir unrest: Mehbooba

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday claimed that opposition National Conference (NC) could go to any extent to grab power and blamed the party of playing an active role in deteriorating situation in Kashmir during past five months.

She was reacting to the statement of former Chief Minister and NC President Farooq Abdullah in which he had pledged support to Hurriyat in the ongoing uprising and asked his workers “to stay with the movement”.

“The statement of Farooq Sahab has proved that National Conference can go to any extent to grab power,” Mehbooba told reporters on the sidelines of a function in Srinagar.

“Criminals had made their way during the past five months of unrest who were pelting stones on vehicles, torching schools and attacking (forces) camps. The statement of Farooq sahab proves that NC was involved in these activities since past five months. And when things are getting better, Farooq Sahab has ordered his workers to once again deteriorate the situation.”

She accused the NC of playing with lives of people to “grab power”.

“Omar Sb has been External Affairs minister in BJP government. He has talked against Pakistan at the national and international level and even called for declaring Pakistan as a terrorist state. Farooq sb has called for bombing of Pakistan and even called for pushing Hurriyat leaders into Jhelum river. But today Farooq sb is saying something else,” she said.

“It has become clear once again that National Conference could play with the lives of anyone, including kids and women.”
