State government has enhanced the monthly pension to Rs 1000 for all approved categories under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) beneficiaries in various schemes on regular basis.
Officials say, “Now the pension is being disbursed regularly in favour of approved beneficiaries, “There are about 65786 numbers of persons who are getting pension under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) similarly in Kashmir division there are about 72265.”
The enhancement effects from April 1, 2016 with the condition that the pension amount shall be disbursed after biometric verification of the beneficiaries. This resulted delay in disbursement of pension but the Government Vide order number 03 SW of 2017 dated 02-01-2017 extended time period for biometric verification upto 31-03-2017.
Officials say, “The beneficiaries under the scheme were paid monthly pension as per the following rates: Those who are in the age group of 60-79 years are getting the rate of pension per month is Rs 400 and those who are 80 years and above are getting the rate of pension per month is Rs 700,” adding, “Now the pension amount has been enhanced of Rs 1000 per beneficiary per month from April 1, 2016 for all categories.”
However, the information regarding particulars of the beneficiaries is voluminous in nature and can be provided to the MLA, if he desires so, officials said. However, the Social Welfare Department is providing financial assistance to destitute/women/girls under the following schemes. Indira Gandhi Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS), Pension to widow/Divorcee under ISS, State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SAMS), Indira Gandhi Matritiva Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY) and Ladli Beti.
The Scheme-wise details of the beneficiaries are indicated as in Jammu region: 10 districts-numbers of beneficiaries under IGNWPS (NSAP) are 3315, numbers of beneficiaries under widow/divorcee (ISSS) are 42918 and number of beneficiaries under state Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS) are 1661. Similarly in Kashmir region there are 12 Districts, Number of beneficiaries under IGNWPS are 4947, number of beneficiaries under Widow/Divorcee (ISSS) are 91474 and number of beneficiaries under State Marriage are 632.
