Bank Employees under the banner of Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation staged a massive demonstration at Shalamar Road Jammu.
The employees were protesting against the policy decisions of union government which aim at attacking the pro labour provisions of labour laws and also Government’s attempts at introducing certain Banking reforms, which undermine the basic Banking operation in the country like out sourcing of jobs.
The employees also were for removal of ceiling under payment of Gratuity Act and also extension of exemption of Income tax limit on Gratuity and leave encashment of employees on retirement. The demonstration was attended by nearly 300 Bank employees of the region. The demonstrators were addressed by Comrade Arun Kumar Gupta, General Secretary of Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation who at length informed the demonstrators about the UFBU positions vis a vis government policies.
For realizing their demands the Bank men of the country headed by UFBU has charted a program of action which started with today’s demonstration and will, in the first phase, end on 28th Feb’2017 when Banks shall be observing a One Day Strike.
Others who were present during the protest included Comrades Ashwani Pradhan, general secretary, PNBOA, R K Bamba, Ganesh Kumar, Tej Krishan Tikoo, Manjit Singh, Kamal Kumar, Rama Kant, Vinod Gupta and others.
