Life returns to normal in parts of north Kashmir


Life returned to normal on Saturday after remaining affected for three days in parts of Bandipora district, where a foreign militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was killed in an encounter by security forces on Thursday.

However, people were observing strike in Hajan and adjoining areas in the district after body of a foreign militant of LeT, injured in an encounter with security forces on February 26, was recovered on Tuesday.

Shops and business establishments reopened this morning and traffic was off the road in Hajan and adjoining areas. Students were seen attending coaching and tuition classes normally today. On March 1, another LeT militant was killed in an encounter by security forces in the Hajan area, where clashes erupted after locals took to streets to disrupt the operation. Security forces and police personnel remained deployed to maintain law and order. However, situation elsewhere in north Kashmir was normal.
