Dense fog affects flight, rail movement in New Delhi

Due to dense fog in National Capital, nine international flights and four domestic flights that were set to leave from the Indira Gandhi International Airport have been cancelled today.

Foggy conditions were witnessed in several parts of Delhi affecting air and rail traffic in the form of several diversions and delays.

The Meteorological Department has predicted mainly clear skies for today along with the possibility of moderate to dense fog at some places during the morning hours.

Yesterday, Delhi airport bore the brunt of fog that paralyzed north India as over 20 flights, of which about 15 were those scheduled to fly between Mumbai and Delhi, were cancelled.

Thousands of passengers were stranded in Mumbai and other airports as cancellations sent airline schedules across the country haywire.

12 trains from New Delhi were rescheduled while 70 trains were delayed, inconveniencing passengers.
