Curfew-like restrictions imposed in parts of downtown and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) as a precautionary measure on Monday when separatists had called for a general strike on the third death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani, were lifted on Tuesday.
All roads leading to historic Jamia Masjid, which were closed with barbed wire on Monday to prevent protests, are open.
According to police, there is no restriction in any part of the SeK and downtown.
Restrictions were imposed as a precautionary measure to prevent any demonstration in view of strike.
Shops and business establishments reopened this morning and traffic was plying on all routes after road blocks and barbed wire were removed. Educational institutions were also functioning. Work in government offices and banks also resumed.
All gates of historic Jamia Masjid, which were closed yesterday, are open for devotees.
However, security forces and state police personnel remained deployed at sensitive places to prevent any untoward incident.
