JU establishes a Section 8 Company

In the relentless pursuit of excellence and a significant move in the history of University of Jammu, a Section 8 company has been incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013 and the certificate of incorporation has been issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.

The Company has been named as University of Jammu SPV Foundation. The company has been established to facilitate implementation of new quality initiatives under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA-II) in the University. The company will compliment the university to operate services with greater focus under separate leadership and governance. The company will be headed by the Chairman and shall have 10-15 members from academia from top Higher Education Institutions and industry.

The idea is to make the University a hub of Innovation and startups, said Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu. Prof Dhar further said that University is envisaging to create an ecosystem where students, scholars and faculty are in a position to incubate their ideas. Efforts are being made to include experts from industry into Boards of Studies of all disciplines so that while designing the syllabi, the requirements of the industry are taken on board.

University of Jammu SPV Foundation has recently advertised for seeking applications from highly competent, professionally trained and qualified persons to be engaged as young professionals. It is pertinent to mention here that University of Jammu is one among ten high-performing state universities recognized as Category I University by MHRD across India, selected for Rs. 100 Crore grant under Rashtriya Uchchaatar Shiksha Abhiyaan (RUSA) to promote excellence in teaching, research and innovation.

Besides, the University shall be mentored by American Universities such as Cornell, and UC Berkeley in various disciplines on specific thematic issues to build an ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation in University.
