Train service was suspended for security reasons on Friday in Kashmir, where Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a general strike in protest against civilian and militant killings during the Holy month of Ramadhan.
“We have suspended train service in the Kashmir valley after receiving a fresh advisory from police on Thursday evening,” a railway official said.
He said no train will run on Badgam-Srinagar-AnantnagQazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region.
Similarly, no train will chug on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir track, he said.
The JRL has called for a strike against killings of civilians and militants during the holy month in Kashmir and Bhaderwah in Jammu region.
