We are a professional force, no one will be spared: J&K Police on Davinder Singh’s terror links

As Jammu and Kashmir Police DSP Davinder Singh’s involvement with terrorists continues to create ripples across the security establishment, the force has issued a statement saying they will not spare anyone for unlawful activities, even it’s one of their own.

In a series of tweets, J&K Police has said, “Jammu Kashmir Police is known for its professionalism & doesn’t spare anyone including its own cadres if found involved in any unlawful act or unbecoming conduct.”

“We have done it in the past in many cases and now in this particular case where it has caught its own officer on its own input and action and would continue to abide by our code of conduct and the Law of the Land which is same for everyone,” the police said on Tuesday.

On Saturday, senior police officer of J&K Police DSP Davinder Singh was for the “heinous crime” of ferrying a lawyer and two terrorists who were being allegedly taken out of Kashmir valley for a possible terror strike.

Police arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police Davinder Singh at Mir Bazar in Kulgam district along with terrorists of the banned Hizbul Mujaideen — Naveed Baba who was its district commander, and Altaf — besides an unidentified lawyer who was working as overground worker for terror outfits.

J&K Police said on Tuesday, “A special investigation team is handling interrogation of the arrested accused officer and the terrorists which would probe his criminal conduct in the instant case and his involvement in any such criminal acts in the past.”

The arrest has triggered Opposition Congress to launch a fierce attack on the government and sought fresh probe into the Pulwama terror attack case saying Davinder Singh could have been involved in that too.
